Default Quick Ranger Question

Ok so im kinda wanting to play like a ranger,( ive played Everquest and was a bard so im looking for something jack of all tradeish, im still sad theres no bards in this game though), but i was wondering if they can like use 2 swords or even one, if they were not like Ranger/War, say i was a Ranger/Ele would i be able to use bow, close range weapons and magic or.....Would i have to be a secondary War, i dont even care about being about to use like special skills with the swords just be able to use them from time to time. if that thats any sense, but yah thanks for you help ahead of time... looking forword to playing ASAP.

You could still use a Sword, even if you aren't Warrior secondary. The damage output would suck, though.

One..and only ever one weapon. There is no dual weilding in game. Any misconception brought on by the "movies" or concept arts was highly unintentional on their part but used to make it more dramatic. As far as using a sword in general. Any character can use any weapon; to get the most out of that weapon's usage they would be better with what offers them the most bonus. Your basic melee damage weapons (sword, axes, hammers, and bows for range) can be used by anybody at full effect providing there is no attribute requirement on the item in question ( say requires 7+ marksmanship on a bow for example)

Every profession can use every weapon. A warrior can use a wand, a monk can use a bow, a ranger can use a sword.

To use it effectively (get the full benefit from its stats and not just base amount) you would need the proper lvl in its required attribute. Swords require Swordsmanship, Bows require Marksmanship, etc. Wands and staves require magic attributes, like Air, Water, Death, Inspiration, etc. The only way to get these attributes is to be the profession (either primary or secondary) that has it. So only a W/? or ?/W could raise Swordsmanship, and only a R/? or ?/R could raise Marksmanship.

Remember this game isnt like the common MMORPGS, deleting your character and trying something else wouldnt be even half as painful.

So I would suggest you try out a few of the professions.

And are you going to playing this BWE or on the release?

I've seen a lot of people asking about dual weilding and I've seen it in a lot of games and movies. It may look cool, but the truth is, dual weilding is not effective. You will almost never find a historical account of someone succesfully dual weilding in combat.

Depends on the game, Wittigo. In EQ it was very effective for melee's, and you almost, well pretty much never, found a melee that could quad (hit four times a round) that did not dual wield. If your talking about real life (why would you? ), then oops.

there are at least a few asian "kung fu" examples of dual wielding i can think of: butterfly swords, tsais, nunchucks..

traditionally, fencing was done with a rapier and a dagger in the offhand. i am not sure as to whether samurai went along a similar line with the katana and a wakazishi/tanto..

So how many kings and history making leaders in reality did dual wield?...Just google it. Google knows more than the Shadow these days.

I was refering to real life , but I like it video games and movies because it looks awesome and I don't play/watch games and movies for realism.
